Inter District Exchange Visit , MSS Kohat Pakistan

RHIYA activity report from Pakistan Report by : Arshad Hanif DPC MSS Kohat

Marie Stopes Society RHIYA Project Kohat has organized three day inter district exchange visit to district Chakwal i.e. from April 19 to 21, 2006. Main purpose of organizing such exposure visit was to provide an opportunity to youth to express their inner capabilities and learn practical experiences. This visit was planned to be conducted in three days and would be an opportunity for RHIYA staff to learn and practically exercise lessons learned during visit.

MSS Pakistan,seminar with Auto workshop working youth on ASRH issues @ Jacobabad

RHIYA activity report from Pakistan two seminars on ASRH issues was conducted with Auto workshops working youth in ASRH issue s, due to large quantity of workers who seminar conducted by MSS RHIYA for auto workshop workers , more 75 young workers participated in both seminars , seminars conducted with support of Auto workshop association , general secretary Haji Abdul Gahfoer were also chaired as chief guest on seminars , at first work place seminar was held at Haji Abdul Ghaffor Mughal Engineering services shop , 40 young boys participated in that seminars , DPC Liaquat Ali introduce RHIYA and MSS at first , and main objectives of conducting seminar. All poster on HIV AIDS, T.B. Hepatitis were also displayed , DPC asked participants to read posters only few young boys able to read Urdu , each one read one poster , and then DPC asked question to each of participate about their level of knowledge on ASRH issues , or general health , very few young boys able to answer proper question , like one guy said AIDS is a canner , an other guys described AIDS as swilling on foot and some told that they just heard about ADIS on TV but don’t know about how it expand among human body . rather DPC also asked about knowledge of hepatitis , major of adult young knows about hepatitis and they shared their relatives death due to hepatitis , DPC briefly inform young boys about HIV Aids hepatitis and smoking issues .

MSS Pak seminar on ASRH & RHIYA intervention in District Jacobabad for media

RHIYA activity report from Pakistan one day Seminar on ASRH and RHIYA intervention in District Jacobabad organized by Marie Stopes Society RHIYA project and District Support Team UNFPA Jacobabad . The formal proceeding was resumed with recitation of holy Quran by Abdul Sami Soomro after that Mr. Murtaza Noonari , youth activist welcomed the media representatives on behalf of organizers then UNFPA RHIYA Documentary was showed to participants after that DPC MSS- RHIYA Mr. Liaquat Ali gave presentation on RHIYA journey from July 2004 to date , he also shared activities and number of beneficiaries and highlighted the RHIYA outputs and gave detail number of referred young people , consultation , advocacy events, provided ASRH information to gatekeepers, joint activities with Govt. aware political leaders and involved them in ASRH knowledge, clients referred to SDP, trained peer educators on ASRH and build the capacity of staff and volunteers to provide youth friendly services , he further said that now officially we are near to end RHIYA project but our network and support from influence will be there forever and we do hope that our activities should be run after official setup and he congratulate Jacobabad personalities for passed resolution to continue RHIYA project .
In the last he thanked to all representatives for their support from initial period to this time and I am sure that support will continue for our youth and network to make this project more wonderful for youth of Jacobabad .
Dr. Nisar Ahmed Solangi , District Program Officer UNFPA briefly provided information about last year progress of 7th Country program and share ongoing activities


Mr. Syed Nazar Abbas Shah , President Press Club Jacobabad addressed his views with paid bundle of thanks of MSS-RHIYA for done incredible work in Jacobabad , he said we are so lucky that we have sincere officer and very hardworker and no doubt they working hard for the betterment of community specially youth . we got very informative knowledge from DPC RHIYA and CP-7 particularly figures and now our journalist can write article and stuff like that .
Again I am very thankful to MSS-RHIYA for organizing this activities specially for Media representatives .

MSS Kohat madrassa corners session

RHIYA activity report from Pakistan RHIYA Kohat Project has conducted a successful session in U/C Usterzai Madrassa corner. Almost 65 youth participated in the session and asked about various queries regarding Reproductive Health. In this session, Reproductive Health was described in the light of Islamic perspective. Religious leaders (Muhtamim’s) were also present on the occasion. Dr. Qamar Abbass (M.O. RHIYA Project) highlighted objectives of the project and its impact on social life. He also presented different verses where in Reproductive Health was highlighted. Religious leaders appreciated such initiative taken by RHIYA Project and insisted for extension of Madrassa Corners in other areas. They ensured their full moral and ethical support in future. They also highlighted different ARH issues in their respective Union Councils. They desired for arrangement of more sessions and medical camps in their particular areas. They declared that this happened first time ever initiative taken by any project in their respective area.

PAVHNA RHIYA MZD

RHIYA activity report from Pakistan PAVHNA RHIYA has organized 4 day training on trauma counseling, the training was facilitated by PAVHNA Psychologist and local Counsellor. This training was basically the follow-up training for same group of trainees to upscale their capacities and improve their knowledge base to help the local communities especially youth and adolescents to get of traumatic situation created after the major earthquack of October 8, 2005 which hit the northern part of the Country (Pakistan).

Total Participatory appraoches were used during the training and toatl 23 participants attende the training including 11 female from target district of Muzaffarabad.

PAVHNA has trained counseling staff on psychosocial behavioral emotional health issues which are directly involved in providing counseling to youth and children. PAVHNA counseling staff visit each and every YFC on weekly basis and provide counseling to the youth and children, these youth and the YFC staff identify adolescents and youth who need specialized services.
