PROJECTS

The RHIYA projects’s goal in Bangladesh was to improve the SRH and overall well-being of vulnerable and underserved youth in on 24 urban and peri-urban areas, especially in small and medium size district towns. National NGOs were selected as partners for the execution and implementation of RHIYA at the country level. A total of 6 projects were implemented. The RHIYA Bangladesh was designed in such a way that one NGO partner was assigned as taking the lead role for each of the four RHIYA outputs, while also contributing to the other output areas: (Link to Bangladesh General’s strategies?) CWFD was responsable for creating an enabling environment and fostering policy support for ARH (output 1); SC UK took the lead role in developping BCC/IEC materials for use accross the RHIYA (output 2); MSCS’s role was to ensure quality and adolescent friendly and gender sensitive clinical services (output 3); and FPAB was in charge of the capacity building support (output 4).

RHIYA's goal in Bangladesh was consistent with the priorities of the GoB articulated in the PRSP which identified the World Summit 2005 declaration of “Access to reproductive Health for all” as one of its target to be met by 2015. With its emphasis on reaching poor and vulnerable youth, RHIYA is also consistent with the UNFPA 7th country programme where youth’s access to health and education is a strategy for poverty reduction. RHIYA Bangladesh thus focused on youth friendly education, counseling and services on SRH.
