EU/UNFPA Reproductive Health Initiative for Youth in Asia (RHIYA) 4th Annual Youth Camp
9-13 February 2004, Siem Reap, Cambodia

The 4th Annual Youth Camp, sponsored by EU/UNFPA and USAID was held in Siem Reap Province at a site within the historic Angkor Complex, on 9-13 February 2004. It was attended by 200 young people selected from 13 provinces and municipalities of Cambodia. The Theme of the Camp was "Young people together eliminate shyness for better understanding of sexual reproductive health and HIV/AIDS.

Present at the Opening Ceremony in the evening of 9 February 2004 were representatives from Government agencies, bilateral donors, partner NGOs and young people. Dr. Chea Samnang, the UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador was also present at the youth camp. He stayed with the young people for the whole period of the event.

EU/UNFPA Reproductive Health Initiative for Youth in Asia (RHIYA) Vietnam Phase II (2003-2006)

The EU/UNFPA Reproductive Health Initiative for Youth in Asia (RHIYA) Phase II (2003-2006) is a regional programme financed by the European Commission in 7 countries (Bangladesh, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam). The RHIYA focuses on sexual and reproductive health (S&RH) for adolescents and youth.

On 13 February 2004, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) took part in a signing ceremony to launch the programme "EU/UNFPA Reproductive Health Initiative for Youth in Asia, Vietnam - Phase II with the witness of the Delegation of the European Commission (EC). The programme in Vietnam will be implemented over a three-year period with a total budget of USD 2,686,590 (~Euro 2,144,129) in 7 project sites (Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hoa Binh, Hue, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa and Ho Chi Minh city).

Cambodian Government Approves the RHIYA

We are pleased to inform you that the Agreement between the Ministry of Health and UNFPA for the implementation of the Cambodia RHIYA Country Programme has been recently signed by H.E. Dr. Mam Bun Heng, the Secretary of State for the Ministry of Health.
