RHIYA Launch

The RHIYA was officially launched in Bangkok on 17th November 2003, at the occasion of UNFPAs Asia Pacific meeting. The meeting brought together 90 participants from seven countries, most NGO representatives, but also youth from Cambodia, Nepal and Viet Nam, the EC Delegations in Thailand and Bangladesh, as well as staff from RHIYA Umbrella Programme Support Units (UPSUs) in these 7 countries. UNFPA Headquarters and the RHIYA Central Unit in Brussels were also present, and, last but not least, UNFPAs Goodwill Ambassador from Cambodia, Dr. Chea Samnang, who played an active role in the Cambodia Delegation. Opening speeches by Mr. Robert Baldwin, Counsellor, EC Delegation Thailand, Ms. Imelda Henkin, Deputy Executive Director, UNFPA and Mr. Shuyun Xu, Director, UNFPA Asia and the Pacific Division, highlighted the successes of the first phase of the programme and emphasised the importance of integrated ASRH services.

Learning from Partnerships

Learning from Partnerships draws together best practices and lessons learned from the implementation of the RHI. Not only does it provide a comprehensive overview of a complex and intricate intervention, but also provides the opportunity to take stock and review the successes and challenges of an ambitious and innovative reproductive health initiative jointly implemented by the European Commission (EC) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
